Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction

Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction arrives in stores today, and along with it a little, tiny bug. According to Insomniac:

“We recently discovered a bug on the US version of Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction that some of you may encounter the first time you boot the game,” Insomniac community manager James Stevenson told Shacknews. “With specific amounts of free space on your drive, you may see a screen that tells you have insufficient space to create game data even though there is plenty of free space on your drive.”

Uh oh! If I saw this, I would think something was wrong with my system and maybe even flip out and get violent. Maybe not. I wonder what more casual users will do? Will they look on Insomniac’s website to find the fix or would they just return the game outright?

The fix, apparently, is to add or delete “around” 500MB of data on your hard drive. But why 500MB? I don’t know…it’s a nice number though, no nasty 1’s or 10’s. I wonder how this bug slipped by the testers? I could see it happen I guess, who would think hard drives with specific amounts of data on them would cause an error?
