Beyond Good & Evil 2 Trailer

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I honestly never played the first one. Thrasher loved it and I finally did buy it for the Xbox. However, by then I had an Xbox 360 and the game wasn’t backwards compatible with it. I was too lazy to get the Xbox out of it’s box, so that was the end of that. Anyway, Ubisoft has officially announced the sequel for the Xbox 360 and PS3, so I’ll probably pick up the sequel.

Bionic Commando Rearmed Soundtrack

Just in case you’re into awesome and radical video game soundtracks, the Bionic Commando Rearmed Soundtrack is up for sale on iTunes. I like “Power Plant”, the song sounds a lot more fun then I imagine a power plant to be. This game is going to be fucking awesome.

Atlus Hints at Announcement

Friday, May 30th, 2008

I receive email announcements from Atlus telling me all about the latest happenings and various other information about upcoming Atlus titles. Today, I receive this (click to view it at a higher resolution):

I have no idea what it means, I really can’t think what game this would be referring too, but it links here. So I guess we can expect some big (or not so big) announcement on June 3rd at around 10 AM PST.

I also received another Atlus email about a new production diary entry, basically behind the scenes information about what goes in to video game production (obviously). This one is about the naming of things in game, which I found to be pretty interesting. Basically, you can’t do a literal translation on enemy names are you get stuff like “Owner of the Malicious Glare.”

Venetica Announced For 360 And PC

Venetica Announced

Venetica is an upcoming RPG by Deck 13 and DTP Entertainment. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of either of them before, but apparently Deck 13 is a big deal in Germany. In the game you play as death’s daughter, which maybe could be cool but also could end up incredibly lame. The graphics don’t look particularly amazing for a 360 game, either. Honestly, I don’t even know why this is a news story on every game website, I just don’t see why I should care, yet. These two companies haven’t done anything amazing in the past, why is Venetica automatically going to be amazing? The whole press release is below…

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King Review

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King

Before I actually begin this review I think I should make it clear that I really didn’t like Crystal Chronicles. As a fan of the more “traditional” Final Fantasy games, I found Crystal Chronicles to be extremely lacking, just a half-assed attempt to put a “Final Fantasy” title on the Gamecube. So, when I heard about Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King and saw all the screen shots, which made the game look very similar to it’s Gamecube predecessor, I was instantly turned off. However, after hearing more about it, I realized My Life as a King is a completely different game and decided to go ahead and give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised and my prejudice against the Crystal Chronicles name was quickly washed away. My Life as a King is a unique game play experience that combines two different game genres (RPG’s and city-building games such as Simcity) to create something truly memorable.

Etrian Odyssey II MEGA Contest

Etrian Odyssey II Contest

A few weeks ago there was an Etrian Odyssey II contest where you could win the games imported 3-disc soundtrack. That was pretty awesome, but not quite awesome enough. Now there’s another, better, more radical contest. Basically, you write a blog entry on Destructoid.com about “your most memorable experience associated with the series.” Like, basically it would be something like this.

Etrian Odyssey was totally awesome. I made a party and named them after my friends. It was fun. Until that first FOE kicked my ass. Then…not so much fun.

Then, if it’s really good, you could win…

  • A SIGNED copy of Etrian Odyssey II: Heroes of Lagaard
  • A SIGNED copy of the official 3-CD soundtrack (Import)
  • A 6.5″ Female Protector figurine (Import)
  • A copy of the rare Japan-only preorder bonus soundtrack CD
  • A copy of the orchestrated Super Arrange soundtrack CD (Import)

…which is really, really nice actually. More information below:

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition COLONIES EDITION Akrid Hunt Video

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Get the Flash Player to see this content.

Some players control the bugs and try to kill the people, other players shoot at the bugs. I, for one, am intrigued. Actually, could be a pretty cool game mode. I remember in one of the Unreal Tournaments they had a mode where players could all fight against progressively harder waves of computer controlled enemies. It was really fun and I wish more games had stuff like this (like Halo 3, for example). Akrid Hunt really isn’t anything like that at all, but it somewhat reminds me of it. A little.

ASH: Archaic Sealed Heat Coming to U.S.

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Archaic Sealed Heat, it had everything going for it, awesome graphics and it’s a Hironobu Sakaguchi produced RPG, but it only sold about 50,000 copies in Japan (50,000 doesn’t seem that bad…but, I guess that’s bad nowadays). What’s your problem, Japan? I mean seriously, dick move guys.

Anyway, the ESRB has given ASH an E10+ rating, which pretty much means it’s coming here. Hopefully it will sell well, I know I’ll be picking it up.
