Amazon’s Black Friday Gamer Deals

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

I’m not sure if these start at like 12:00 AM or what…no DS deals, either. Fallout 3 for $39.95 seems like a great deal, as well as Last Remnant for $39.95. They’ll apparently be more price cuts, as well. “While the peek is a pretty substantial list, I’m told that all said there will be more than 200 price cuts on gaming stuff this Friday.”

Street Fighter Underground Remix

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix releases today on PlayStation Network and November 26 for Xbox Live Arcade. They’re also releasing a music CD for the game, but it’s not just any old soundtrack, no no. They had a bunch of guys rap about Street Fighter. I always wonder what Red Man mixed with a little Street Fighter would be like. This is the answer. I listened to the whole thing. I have “cause I’m a street fighter. street fighter. street fighter.” stuck in my head now. Thanks a lot, Mistah F.A.B.

What game is the last song sampling from?

Additionally, Capcom’s direct-to-download music album of hip-hop tracks inspired by the Street Fighter series. Street Fighter Underground Remix will go live today and will feature the musical flavor of artists such as DJ Qbert, Hieroglyphics, Redman, Oh No, DJ Toure, Mistah FAB and ZION I. Each artist has produced a Street Fighter tribute track that will be free of charge and exclusive to the PlayStation Network. You can check out the tracks by visiting: www.myspace.com/capcomunity.

Dead Space Demo Out Today

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

If you don’t own Dead Space, be sure to check out the demo that’s out today on both Xbox Live and the PSN (in Europe it’s out on the PSN the 27th). It gets the awesome radical seal of approval, if you’re a fan of survival horror games, or just radical games in general, you should definitely check it out.

The demo will be available at the PlayStation®Store in North America and Xbox LIVE® Marketplace worldwide*. In Europe, the demo will be available at the PlayStation Store on November 27th.

Winner of over 27 critic awards and currently nominated for Best Action Adventure Game on Spike TV’s upcoming 2008 Video Game Awards on December 14th, gamers can experience a taste of, as GamePro magazine says, “…one of the best survival horror experiences ever created.” Now, before experimenting on a turkey this Thanksgiving, you can tear the Necromorphs apart limb by limb with four different futuristic mining tools, and Isaac Clarke’s telekinesis and stasis abilities.

Google Maps – Capital Wasteland

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Now you can easily find your way through the world of Fallout 3, with the help of Google Maps! I don’t know what I’d do without you and your maps, Google. I’d probably never find the Republic of Dave, that’s what.

Mirror’s Edge 2D

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

So, let’s say you played the Mirror’s Edge demo and liked it, but you haven’t bought the full game yet because you’re completely and totally broke (me). Maybe you’re sad because you don’t have it, maybe you’re angry at the world. Well, do I have a solution for you! I mean, it’s not my solution, really, since I didn’t make it, but whatever, that’s not important. What is important is that you can now play the free flash 2D version of Mirror’s Edge here. Brad Borne (I think he’s from those The Borne Something Something movies, he also is the creator of Fancy Pants) and Electronic Arts have partnered up to create the game, which is actually very fun and the music is great.

This is only the beta version of the game, the full version should be complete in one to two weeks.

Buy Every Valve Game for $99

Friday, November 14th, 2008

If my computer didn’t suck, and I didn’t already own a lot of the games, I’d totally buy Valve Complete Pack, which is available through Steam here and includes Left 4 Dead. Left 4 Dead is what, $54 anyway? Might as well get a ton of other games for a couple bucks more.

Atlus Announces My World My Way

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Are you sick of typical RPG’s that have “gender-confused boy heroes with their spikey hair and ginormous swords living out an absurd ultimate fantasy?” Well, apparently, My World My Way is the game for you. Originally released in Japan as The World Revolves Around Me, this totally amazing DS game has you controlling Elise as she runs around doing I don’t know what. She has the ability to change the landscape when it doesn’t suit her, make monsters give more money, and can even make quests solve themselves. As far as I can tell you actually don’t do anything. You just hit the “I Win” button and the game ends, which is a concept Thrasher came up with like 10 years ago. I guess the game just pokes fun at a bunch of RPG clichés, the video game equivalent of Scary Movie.

Robert, you should get this for your iPhone. You always said you were the #1 Zelda fan, now is your chance to prove it. It’s only $0.99, it’s totally worth it.

Dead Space Review

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

I admit, initially I wasn’t too pumped about Dead Space. I honestly thought it was just going to be some cheap Doom or Resident Evil rip-off, just another generic game borrowing concepts from other series in hopes of making a quick buck. I was dead (get it?) wrong, Dead Space is an amazing game that will go down as one of my favorites in 2008. Every fan of the survival horror genre should pick this one up, it’s definitely worth it.

In the game you control Isaac, one member of a repair crew sent to investigate the Ishimura (a massive space ship) and determine why communication has been lost with the ship. Once inside, things rapidly go downhill as it seems every one on the ship is either dead, insane, or turned into a horrible monster with an insatiable love of human flesh. From that point on it’s basically Isaac’s job to kill tons of bad guys and fix everything that’s wrong on the ship.
