The wait is over as old-school hero Nathan Spencer gets a 3D makeover with today’s release of Bionic Commando for Windows PCs.
Bionic Commando is rated by the ESRB as Mature and is available now on store shelves in North America for $39.99 for Windows PCs or through various online distribution platforms, including the Capcom e-Store and Steam.

The Behemoth, the developers behind Castle Crashers and Alien Hominid, are working on a new game, simply called Game 3 for now. The gameplay is described as “competitive platformer”, part Super Smash Bros. and part Bubble Bobble. I like the music.
On a related note, Castle Crashers has 1,000,000 people on the leader boards (I’m not sure if that’s a million downloads, or just users) making it the fastest growing XBLA game so far.
The DS will be getting a new Shin Megami Tensei game, entitled Strange Journey. The story seems to focus around a team sent to investigate the Sout Pole, which is covered in a “mysterious matter.” The main character oddly looks like someone out of Dead Space.
Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey is scheduled for an October 8th release date in Japan and is priced at ¥6,279 (about $67, which is insane). As of yet, there is no word on a U.S. release, but knowing Atlus they’ll probably bring the game over.
Now that Comic Con has officially kicked off we’d like to begin the festivities by announcing some great Capcom news for Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworth and Fate/unlimited codes. Plus we have a friendly reminder regarding Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
Capcom fight fans can expect Fate/unlimited codes to hit the PlayStation Store in early September for the PlayStation Portable system. This extraordinary fighter has a deep roster of characters and unique fighting moves, while employing a fast-paced, weapons-based fighting system that is sure to meet any Capcom fan’s highest expectations. Comic Con attendees can expect to try the game out for themselves at our booth as it will be featured alongside the other fighting titles in our fight ring.
Switching gears, another fabulous Capcom title, Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworth, will hit the U.S on February 16, 2010 for the Nintendo DS. This time around, the player takes on the role of famed prosecutor Miles Edgeworth, a memorable rival of charismatic legal eagle Phoenix Wright. Edgeworth actively investigates crime scenes in order to pursue the truth behind each case. By solving the challenging puzzles presented to him, Edgeworth will work with the police to bring criminals to justice. This too will be featured at the booth so come on by and get your first taste of the latest edition to Capcom’s crime investigation series – a series that was so hot it warranted a spin-off title. For more information about Ace Attorney Investigation: Miles Edgeworh, head on over to http://ace-attorney.com/
Also, don’t forget to bring your PSP to Comic Con as you will have a chance to download 8 free quests for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite. The Capcom booth will has a dedicated download station for Monster Hunter Freedom Unite players to download these quests. Only 6 quests will fit on a memory stick, so players should bring either two sticks, or another friend along that has their own PSP and copy of the game. There’s a little bit of something for everyone amongst the quests offered with 4 of the quests suited for beginners and the other 4 catering to more experienced players.
Yes, I knew there was going to be a Warcraft movie. What I didn’t know? Sam Raimi is going to be directing it. No word on when to expect the movie, or really any other major details (though there is some more information about the movie here). I have some concerns, mostly revolving around the fact that video game movies tend to suck. Hopefully Raimi will do a good job, he’s done a lot of not sucky movies in the past. I just hope he doesn’t decide to add an incredibly awkward (and completely unnecessary) dance scene to totally ruin the movie, like a certain Spider-Man 3. The full press release is below…
Capcom will be releasing a mix tape alongside their Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 release, featuring a number of well known hip-hop artists. That’s pretty awesome, but what’s even more awesome is you can grab a limited edition full-size vinyl of the album. At Comic-Con. Which is on the wrong coast for me.
Microsoft’s new Xbox 360 dashboard will be released on August 11th and feature a number of improvements and new features, including:
A new “Xbox Live Games On Demand” service, allowing users to download whole Xbox 360 games. The service will launch with 30 games, including Assassin’s Creed, BioShock, Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Mass Effect, and Sonic The Hedgehog.
Netflix party support, so friends can watch Netflix movies together (I’m assuming if both have Netflix accounts setup).
The Avatar marketplace, you can now buy stuff for your virtual avatar, including an RC Warthog from Halo.
The “Games on Demand” service sounds pretty cool, Netflix party support seems alright, too. I might do that like once or twice before I tire of watching Rocky Horror Picture Show with Robert one too many times. Once is more then enough. The Avatar marketplace, though…really? I’m sure people will buy stuff, but why?
Resident Evil 5 will be out for PC on September 15th and will support stereoscopic 3D, which sounds pretty high tech. Full press release below. Capcom will also be showing the game at Comicon 2009.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is described as a “side-scroller that would combine old school arcade style game play with feature film quality design and animation.” It kind of looks like a mix between Solar Jetman, Patapon, a little Metroid, and some black metal (that’s Dimmu Borgir playing). Whatever it is, the graphics look pretty fucking amazing. It’s currently only listed as a PC release, but their production blog talks about their presentation to Microsoft for XBLA.
