Street Fighter IV Collector’s Edition

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

Street Fighter IV Collector’s Edition stuff, for North America. I wonder what the “secret additional downloadable content” will be?

1. The game (duh)
2. A limited-edition (ie., not sold anywhere else) figurine – Ryu in the PS3 box, C. Viper hotness in the 360 flavor. Decisions, decisions…
3. Street Fighter IV: The Ties That Bind: a 65 minute anime movie — created by Studio 4C — that sets up the story of SFIV by explaining events post-SFII. BluRay disc in the PS3 box! The Xbox version is a 360 game disc that outputs the movie at 720P, not a DVD.
4. A mini-strategy guide from Prima, written by the same people doing the full-on guide and illustrated by Udon Comics
5. CD soundtrack. Rock SFIV stage chunez in your car!
6. …Plus some secret additional downloadable content that we’re not quite ready to reveal at this point. Look for more announcements soon!

Street Fighter Underground Remix

Tuesday, November 25th, 2008

Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix releases today on PlayStation Network and November 26 for Xbox Live Arcade. They’re also releasing a music CD for the game, but it’s not just any old soundtrack, no no. They had a bunch of guys rap about Street Fighter. I always wonder what Red Man mixed with a little Street Fighter would be like. This is the answer. I listened to the whole thing. I have “cause I’m a street fighter. street fighter. street fighter.” stuck in my head now. Thanks a lot, Mistah F.A.B.

What game is the last song sampling from?

Additionally, Capcom’s direct-to-download music album of hip-hop tracks inspired by the Street Fighter series. Street Fighter Underground Remix will go live today and will feature the musical flavor of artists such as DJ Qbert, Hieroglyphics, Redman, Oh No, DJ Toure, Mistah FAB and ZION I. Each artist has produced a Street Fighter tribute track that will be free of charge and exclusive to the PlayStation Network. You can check out the tracks by visiting: www.myspace.com/capcomunity.

Street Fighter Club Event in Brooklyn, NY

Wednesday, October 15th, 2008

What’s a Street Fighter Club event? Apparently, an “evening of free pizza, sodas, an amazing goodie bag and ten Street Fighter IV arcade machines.” At least that’s what happened in L.A. when they held a similar event earlier this year. It took place in some run-down warehouse in an “ultra-sketchy” neighborhood, so there’s a good chance when it comes to Brooklyn it will be in Red Hook and I won’t have travel far. Honestly, I just want to go for the goodie bag. I hope Liz comes with me, because I’m a) scared of run-down warehouses, and b) scared of people cosplaying Street Fighter characters. And playing Street Fighter IV would be fun, too.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Sells 1.4 Million in First Week

Brawl Sells 1.4 Million in First Week

Or about 120 units per minute (so says the press release, I didn’t do the math myself). Either way, it’s awesome news for Nintendo. 1.4 million may seem like a lot, but Brawl has a long way to go to catch Melee, which sold 7 million units over the lifetime of the Gamecube. The whole press release is after the link…

Super Smash Bros. Brawl Initial Impressions

Super Smash Bros Brawl Initial Impressions

I bought Brawl last night and since then have played the game for just over 10 hours. I’ve mostly played the Subspace Emissary as well as one run through classic mode with Snake and 20 of the single player events. I also played a quick online game with Gmoney and another one with a random person.

I guess overall Brawl is really just Melee, but greatly expanded upon in all areas. There are better graphics, more characters, and more stages. There are lots of new items and tons of trophies, songs, and stickers to collect, as well as a huge increase in the amount things to do while playing solo.

Street Fighter IV AOU Trailer

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

A new trailer for Street Fighter IV has emerged from the AOU 2008 Amusement Expo in Japan. The trailer shows off moves from returning characters Chun-Li, Guile, Dhalsim, E. Honda, Zangief, and Blanka, as well as new characters Viper and Abel. Looks pretty interesting. Chun-Li has some giant thighs.
