Platinum Games’ (Bayonetta, Mad World) latest game, Vanquish, is a third-person shooter featuring a cover system similar to Gears of War and the ability to slow down time. Looks pretty interesting, I like the jet pack allowing the player to move quickly to get under cover. Also, an important warning. Elect a female president and next thing you know San Francisco is gone and Russia has a robot army.
Square Enix’s announced that their XBLA shooter 0 Day Attack on Earth will be out next week. It looks pretty interesting, and you can check out the official website here
A new trailer from TGS for PixelJunk Shooter (formerly known as PixelJunk 1-4). The game is looking pretty nice…seems similar to Solar Jetman, which was a totally awesome game.
Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet is described as a “side-scroller that would combine old school arcade style game play with feature film quality design and animation.” It kind of looks like a mix between Solar Jetman, Patapon, a little Metroid, and some black metal (that’s Dimmu Borgir playing). Whatever it is, the graphics look pretty fucking amazing. It’s currently only listed as a PC release, but their production blog talks about their presentation to Microsoft for XBLA.
If you’re thinking of picking up the upcoming (February 10) Wii shooter The House of the Dead: Overkill you might consider pre-ordering the game to get a free graphic novel Prelude To An Overkill, which looks kind of cool.
Valve’s Gabe Newell has confirmed plans for a PC and Xbox 360 demo of their upcoming survival horror game, Left 4 Dead. The demo will contain both single player and online co-op modes. There’s no set release date for the demo yet. Left 4 Dead is scheduled for release at the end of November, and the article doesn’t make it clear if the demo will be released before or after it’s already out. As for what content will be in the demo, Newell said “I think it’s going to contain the first part of one of the campaigns. I think it’ll probably be Hospital but I’m not sure.” I hate zombies so much.

Geometry Wars was awesome. Something about the simple game play was incredibly addicting, and the graphics were pretty cool, too. I expect Geometry Wars 2 to be 2 times as awesome. We’ll find out soon as it will be available on Xbox Live Arcade August 6. In the mean time, you can look at a bunch of new screenshots.
