Gamespot Q & A in Response to Jeff Gerstmann’s Firing

Gamespot has released an official Q & A about the recent firing of long time editor Jeff Gerstmann. The article is in response to allegations that Gerstmann was fired due to advertisement pressure. According to the article, Gerstmann was fired following an “internal review process by the managerial team.” The whole thing screams “Please don’t go, we don’t suck.”

Interestingly, tomorrow Gamespot will be holding a tribute to Gerstmann. Sure, they fired him, but they still love the guy. I think if I was Gerstmann I would be pissed off that they are trying to make themselves look like the good guys.

What’s Going On At Gamespot?

Earlier this week Kotaku reported receiving an annoymous tip claiming that long time reviewer Jeff Gerstmann had been fired from Gamespot because he had given a bad review (6/10) for Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. This was, apparently, a massive conflict of interest, since Eidos (publisher of Kane & Lynch: Dead Men) had taken out a huge, full page ad for the game on Gamespot.
