Archaic Sealed Heat, it had everything going for it, awesome graphics and it’s a Hironobu Sakaguchi produced RPG, but it only sold about 50,000 copies in Japan (50,000 doesn’t seem that bad…but, I guess that’s bad nowadays). What’s your problem, Japan? I mean seriously, dick move guys.
Anyway, the ESRB has given ASH an E10+ rating, which pretty much means it’s coming here. Hopefully it will sell well, I know I’ll be picking it up.
Konami officially announced the next Castlevania game last night during their Gamer’s Night ‘08 in San Francisco. Dracula is back again, but this time years after the Belmont family has disappeared. The lead character, Shenoa, is a female, which is a first (technically second I think, the other game with a female character was removed from the official timeline for some reason). She’s a member of the Order of Ecclesia, a group who is all about killing Dracula.
The game uses a new glyph system, allowing Shenoa to equip a glyph in each hand and one on her back. I wonder why they decided to allow her to equip a glyph on her back and not on her legs or something, just seems kind of different. Also, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia Announced will feature multiple endings.
I’m really excited, I love all these handheld Castlevania games. I’m liking that they aren’t using the anime style from Portrait of Ruin, that needed to go. Also, it’s interesting to see these leaked screenshots were the real deal.

Well, it looks like it could be happening…I never thought it would (Nintendo of America refused to bring over any of the GBA Mother games so I figured it was the end of the series for me), but it looks like Nintendo might be bringing Earthbound stateside via the Virtual Console. The ESRB has recently given a rating to the Super Nintendo classic Earthbound. If you haven’t played it, you should, because its pretty radical. Any game that takes place in the year “199X” is good. The ESRB gave it an “E” for everyone.
Hopefully we’ll get Mother 1 and 3 some day (Earthbound is Mother 2, it’s sort of like the Final Fantasy III / VI thing).
I bought Brawl last night and since then have played the game for just over 10 hours. I’ve mostly played the Subspace Emissary as well as one run through classic mode with Snake and 20 of the single player events. I also played a quick online game with Gmoney and another one with a random person.
I guess overall Brawl is really just Melee, but greatly expanded upon in all areas. There are better graphics, more characters, and more stages. There are lots of new items and tons of trophies, songs, and stickers to collect, as well as a huge increase in the amount things to do while playing solo. (more…)
This weeks VC updates are, I assume, pretty radical. I assume so because I haven’t actually played either of the games, so I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt. Kirby 64 was one I always wanted to play but never got around to buying…I guess now is my chance. Psychosis…I’ve never heard of, but with a name like that it has to be good, right? The TurboGrafx16 in general is an area I’m not very knowledgeable about, did a lot of people actually own these systems? None of my friends ever had one.
This Sunday, January 20th, Nintendo will be holding a launch party for Advance Wars: Days of Ruin at the Nintendo World Store in New York. It starts at 1 PM and ends around 3 PM. I’m sure they’ll be all kinds of Advance Wars craziness going on. They’ll also be giving the game away for free to the first 25 people in line so…I’m totally going.
Visit the Nintendo WORLD store for a special sneak-peek celebration a day before the game’s launch. From 1-3 p.m., fans will have the chance to win cool prizes by participating in Nintendo trivia challenges. Come early - the first 25 people in line for this awesome event will receive a free copy of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin!
The Nintendo DS set a sales record last week (between November 18 - 24), selling more than 653,000 units! The previous title holder? The Game Boy Advance, moving 600,000 for the same time period in 2005. Well done Nintendo, well done. (more…)
Arkanoid was originally an arcade game developed by Taito in 1986 and later ported over to the NES. You control the “Vaus”, a space ship that basically acts as a paddle to bounce a ball against multicolor bricks. Some bricks take more than one hit to destroy and the player can grab upgrades along the way (expand the Vaus, multiple balls, or lasers). Once all the bricks are cleared on the stage, you advance to the next stage. However, if you miss the ball and it goes behind you, you lose a life. (more…)
I don’t really even know what to say. Why did they choose to do a video game theme? I mean, a lot of people in the band must really love video games to decide to do this. It’s pretty well done…watching the Tetris blocks move is almost mesmerizing. It’s too bad everything is upside down. What percentage of people in the stands do you think had no idea what the hell was going on.
