No More Heroes Initial Impressions

It’s been a big week for me in gaming. First, Advance Wars, now No More Heroes. I haven’t played the game nearly enough, but from the little bit I have played (just two bosses in), No More Heroes is very awesome.

You play as Travis Touchdown who, after winning a beam katana (lightsaber) in an internet auction, decides to become a hitman. After killing a ranked assassin, Travis himself becomes the 11th ranked assassin in the world. Realizing that he has now made himself a target for aspiring assassins, he sets out to secure himself as the number one hitman.

No More Heroes Video Preview

IGN has posted a pretty nice video preview for No More Heroes. The most obvious difference between this and Killer 7 is that No More Heroes seems a lot less linear, at least so much in that you can move around as you please in the city. Sure, the boss fights seem to be in order, but everything in between is open. I loved Killer 7, it being completely on rails didn’t really bother me since I liked the atmosphere they created so much. No More Heroes seems just as atmospheric and I really enjoy that.

I love how you have to do odd jobs to make money. Mowing lawns in a video game seems awesome.

No More Heroes: Stupid Coconut Collector Trailer

I’m really looking forward to No More Heroes and this trailer just reinforces that. Sure, there’s more to the game then collecting coconuts, but who doesn’t love to pick up coconuts and walk around with them? Probably Robert, that’s who. Why did I have to enter my birthday, it’s not like there was anything adult in this video… (more…)
