Does anyone out there remember a little game called Chrono Trigger? It was released in 1995 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Well you should if you don’t. The game, as many gamers know, is probably one of the greatest RPG’s of all time if not the best of all time (this is open to debate if anyone disagrees). So for this long overdue edition of Radical Gaming Music we here at Awesome Radical Gaming have decided to focus on the music of Chrono Trigger.
Outskirts of Time |
We chose a song that plays during one of the trillions of endings the game offered. Its been a while since I have had the time to sit down and play the game, but the song plays while the characters fly over the land saved from the destruction of Lavos. Its really a wonderful ending to an amazing game. This song personally brings back tons of memories. The Title of the song according to my itunes is “Outskirts of Time” but I have always known of it as “To Good Friends”, which i prefer. Its fits the song better. I personally chose this song because i feel it is one of the best in the game. It took my friend a long time to convince me to play the Chrono Trigger, before this I hadn’t ever played an RPG (this is excluding Zelda if anyone considers that an RPG), but I finally played it towards the end of my 8th Grade Year. All I can say is the game blew me away. It was simply amazing. I joked around at first by giving the characters obscene names, to which I still regret, but after playing for a bit I was hooked. This song was the icing on the cake for me. I remember beating the game and sitting back feeling like I accomplished something and then this song began to play as I flew across the land in my beloved Epoch. Anyway sorry for the rant. The point is that this song says a lot about the game and the feeling of the game and how groundbreaking and massive the game was for its time. Almost 13 years later this song is still as good as the first day I heard it.
