Square Enix has announced the release of SaGa Emerald Beyond on April 25, 2024. Set to arrive simultaneously across multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and mobile devices, the game offers players six different characters to choose from, each embarking on one of five unique story routes. The release was announced during the inaugural SaGa Glimmerfest 2023 livestream, a Square Enix event dedicated to SaGa news where previously announced details were revisited, along with clarifications on gameplay elements such as the dual weapon slots.
SaGa Emerald Beyond serves as the latest standalone entry in the SaGa franchise, offering players a highly customized gaming experience. From exploring 17 unique worlds each with their distinctive cultures and landscapes, to meeting a diverse range of characters including monsters, mechs, and vampires, the game underscores individual choices and actions. These elements contribute to distinct story arcs defined by the unique motives and backgrounds of each of the six leading characters.
SaGa Emerald Beyond boasts the most branching plots in the franchise, with the story developing richly based on player choices. The enhanced strategic Timeline Battles further refine gameplay to amplify character and player decisions, ensuring new possibilities at every turn. Additionally, every playthrough can lead to fresh events, experiences and potential endings. Alongside the release date, the first two character trailers for Tsunanori Mido and Ameya Aisling, two of the game’s main characters, were also unveiled.
