Leaked internal documents indicate that Marvel and Insomniac Games are set to continue their collaboration for the forthcoming decade, sharing plans for several new video game releases. The documents, accidentally revealed in a ransomware attack, suggest that Insomniac will be developing a game featuring the X-Men by 2030. Previous teasers about a standalone Wolverine game scheduled for 2026 are expanded upon, with additional games including Marvel’s Venom (2025), Marvel’s Spider-Man 3 (2028), and Marvel’s X-Men (2030) also part of the roadmap. These timelines could, however, change given the recent data breach.

The presumptive launch dates are designed to coincide with the release of the next-generation PlayStation (PlayStation 6) and with Marvel Studio’s anticipated big screen adaptation of the X-Men, expected after Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. As per the leaked details, a major portion of Insomniac’s workforce will be assigned to Venom and Wolverine projects, with full concentration on the X-Men game not planned until mid-2025. An outdated roadmap also hints at multiple X-Men games through 2033.

An internal document exposes a unique arrangement between Marvel and Insomniac that allows the game developer exclusive access to the X-Men franchise through 2035, essentially prohibiting Marvel from launching or announcing any new X-Men console, PC, or streaming games, including any use of X-Men characters in competitive gaming, during this period. There are some exceptions made for multi-family Marvel games and rights to certain children’s games and 90s X-Men games. Insomniac’s release calendar also includes a new Ratchet & Clank game and an unannounced IP to premiere by 2032.
