Bethesda has recently disclosed expanded details about its upcoming plans for Starfield in 2023. The studio has announced a series of updates expected every six weeks from February, featuring survival mechanics and improvements to quality-of-life aspects and features. Specific enhancements for enthusiasts of ship customization include new building options and decorations. Furthermore, gamers can anticipate more significant updates like new gameplay possibilities that will allow them to customize various game elements such as carry capacity, cargo access distance, ship damage, vendor credits, afflictions, and new survival mechanics.

In addition to these updates, Bethesda reaffirmed that it will introduce mod support to the game in 2024. The support comes with an exclusive exporter and access to a new Creation Kit. The company has always incorporated modding into its games, a move that has seemingly led to the creation of remarkable mods. Despite changing from “Mostly Positive” to “Mixed Reviews” on Steam, Starfield has still managed to amass 13 million players since September and nearly two billion planets visited, with an average playtime standing at 40 hours.

On another note, Starfield will witness the launch of the Shattered Space DLC in 2024. Bethesda promises that this DLC will feature new gear, locations, and a considerably more substantial storyline. Therefore, if these updates and the forthcoming DLC garner success, Starfield could potentially enjoy a long lifespan, just like Bethesda’s other games.
