Kojima Productions unveiled a trailer for the much-anticipated Death Stranding 2 On The Beach, during the January 2024 State of Play, announcing its full title and the 2025 release date. The sequel will take protagonist Sam Bridges to Mexico and other new regions of a post-apocalyptic Earth. The nearly ten-minute trailer features new and familiar characters, the DHV Magellan ship commanded by Fragile, and various novel settings, including a desert environment. Please be warned, the trailer contains spoilers for the first Death Stranding game.
The first announcement of Death Stranding 2, the sequel to the 2019 original game, was made at The Game Awards 2022, along with the release of its initial trailer. Since that reveal, no other information has been disclosed until the recent State of Play. Norman Reedus had confirmed in May 2022 that he would be reprising his role in the sequel prior to the official announcement.
The game is currently being developed for the PS5 and set to launch in 2025. The original Death Stranding was available on PlayStation 4 and later had a Director’s Cut version released on PS5 and PC, which included additional side content.
