Helldivers 2 has rolled out its latest update with a patch adding an AFK kick timer to remove inactive players, allowing active players to engage more efficiently. The AFK timer, celebrated by the game community, will now boot off any player lingering in the lobby past 15 minutes of inactivity, a change widely requested as Helldivers 2 gained a hefty player base of over 450,000 on Steam alone. Along with the AFK timer, the patch also includes various fixes to improve the overall gaming experience.

Among the issues addressed in the update are several crash triggers, including those activated when joining other players’ ships, exiting ADS, or when players leave a session during active bombardments. Other resolved issues include access to the Ship Management panel, online missions’ unavailability on the Galactic War Map, and a behavior causing players to be stuck in defrosting or ship intro cinematic. The update also fixes issues related to GameGuard’s interaction with the Windows firewall and Steam’s “verify integrity” step.

However, the new update doesn’t solve all existing problems. Arrowhead Games acknowledges issues such as inaccurate armor values and persistent disconnects during matches, as well as the error code 10003001 on PS5. Despite these ongoing issues, Arrowhead maintains their commitment to improving the game’s performance, suggesting that with patience, the journey to a perfected gaming experience should be well worth the wait.
