Nintendo has announced the surprise launch of a free demo for the upcoming game, “Princess Peach: Showtime!” on the Nintendo Switch eShop. The game, set to release on March 22, casts Princess Peach as the heroine for the first time in almost twenty years, embarking on a mission to save the Sparkle Theater from villains Grape and the Sour Bunch. Players get to explore different levels, don different costumes each with unique abilities, and even watch some gameplay in an accompanying trailer that showcases a variety of Peach’s character transformations.
The game also introduces an additional mode called “Rehearsal,” where Peach fights off waves of enemies to earn rewards, which can be used for customizing Peach’s outfits and her companion Stella’s looks. However, it is to be noted that a preview event held in February received mixed reactions due to the game’s performance struggles with the aging Nintendo Switch hardware.
“Princess Peach: Showtime!” was first revealed in September 2023, following a teaser released in June. This marks Nintendo’s second individual game starring Princess Peach, with the previous one being “Super Princess Peach” for Nintendo DS released in 2005. The new game is set to launch on Nintendo Switch on March 22.
