Following the brief one-minute victory respite after the conquest of local Automaton units, the Helldiver forces of Super Earth found themselves combating Terminids almost immediately. The brief triumph was short-lived as the resurgent Automatons returned, seemingly stronger than before, and prepared to reclaim Cyberstan. However, their success or failure hinges largely on the strategic prowess of the Helldivers, whose initial approach was instrumental in the previous victory over the Automatons. The imminent release of the Democratic Detonation Warbond might provide some novel combat tools, but it remains to be seen whether these new weapons will make a significant impact.
A statement released by Super Earth on Discord reveals the immense scale of the Automaton’s fleet, comprising tens of thousands of warships that took over most planets in the Valdis Sector in mere hours, indicating the beginning of ‘The Reclamation’. Joel, Helldivers 2’s game master, has effectively transformed the galactic battlefield, suggesting that Super Earth could possibly be at a real risk of loss.
Regardless, this impending loss is part-and-parcel of the Helldivers 2 experience and any outcome is sure to be engaging. The course of the war now depends on how hard Arrowhead Studios decide to motivate their player base into action.
