Atlus disclosed updates on Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance, the upgraded version of the 2021 Nintendo Switch title is set to release worldwide on June 14, 2024. The game will be accessible on multiple platforms including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The update will include additional characters and gameplay mechanics and will be complemented by a three-minute trailer, new artwork and screenshots.
Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance presents players with two distinct narrative scenarios to choose from at the start of the game: the ‘Canon of Creation’ which follows the complete narrative of the original Shin Megami Tensei V, and the ‘Canon of Vengeance’, an entirely new story devised for this updated version. The protagonist of the game is a high school student who, after awakening in a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, merges with a mysterious entity to become a Nahobino—a powerful entity that is neither human nor demon. The details of the narrative alter dramatically in the second half of the ‘Canon of Vengeance’ arc.
The game introduces a high number of characters, including the Nahobino protagonist, voiced by Casey Mongillo. Hayo Koshimizu, voiced by Sean Crisden, serves as Japan’s prime minister and provides characters access to a Demon Summoning Program to fight off demons. Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance also includes a selection of over 270 demons, featuring new and returning demons from previous installments. The game will introduce a new area in the former Shinjuku ward within the netherworld setting of Da’at, populated by roaming demons and covered in runes of Tokyo. Players can navigate this environment, collecting Magatsuhi Crystals to restore health and boost other gameplay mechanics.
