An upcoming Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition game for the Switch has been inadvertently revealed by the ESRB’s rating announcement. Rated for everyone with elements of Mild Fantasy Violence and In-Game Purchases, the game will include a collection of 2D challenges and platformer games featuring speedrun and survival modes. Several challenges involve reaching specific points, with some games depicting pixelated characters using small swords or arrows against enemies.

Nintendo World Championships is not a new concept; the original was held in 1990 and featured Rad Racer, Super Mario Bros, and Tetris. The event returned in 2015, with the Ultimate NES Remix as a qualifier and the main event featuring games including Mario Kart 8, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, and Super Smash Bros for Wii U. In 2017, it featured titles like Arms, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Super Mario Odyssey.

The official launch date of Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition for the Switch remains unknown as Nintendo is yet to announce the game formally.
