Recently, Atlus released another preview for its upcoming JRPG, Metaphor: ReFantazio. This sheds more light on the game’s innovative battle system, which allows players to toggle between real-time and turn-based combat. Your actions during real-time battles, designated as “Fast” mode, vary based on your chosen archetype or class, providing a dynamic approach to defeating lower level monsters. Moreover, in “Command” mode, players can direct a team of four members to vanquish higher-level foes. As the narrative unfolds, the team will expand to seven members, a feature similar to the popular game Persona.
In addition to this, Metaphor involves a strategic element of swapping characters between the front and back rows during combat. This feature, reminiscent of older Atlus classics like Shin Megami Tensei 2 and Persona Q, will influence the gameplay dynamics, especially in how Brawler parties operate on the backline. Furthermore, a heads-up for gamers: Atlus has confirmed that the difficulty level of fights in Metaphor has been amplified to pose a real challenge.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is set for release on 11th October and is available for updates and more information on its dedicated Steam and Xbox online pages. The JRPG promises to deliver an immersive fantasy world, combined with strategic gameplay, and jaw-droppingly tough battles, making it an anticipated release for all RPG enthusiasts.
