Airship Syndicate announced a soft-release of the “Echoos” update for the Early Access version of Wayfinder on PC (Steam) to take place on May 31. This significant update will make the game a single-player with optional cooperative play by removing the online requirements. Furthermore, it will ensure that the game is available perpetually. The update, which includes local saves, ends support for the PlayStation 4 version. However, all users who own the PlayStation 4 version will be granted access to the PlayStation 5 version of Wayfinder. After this soft-release, a full launch will take place on June 11, coinciding with the resumption of sales at $24.99.

In addition to removing online requirements, the “Echoes” update involves another significant change in terms of pricing. The update reflects a shift in the gaming industry predicated on the insight that players prefer purchasing a game packed with content rather than having to routinely check multiple games for daily quests and shop rotations. Therefore, players only need to pay a single price of $24.99 during Early Access (subject to increase upon full release) without any in-game microtransactions or purchases. Founders of the game will maintain their access and exclusive items packed in each purchase in the past. The game developer also confirmed that Runesilver, an in-game currency previously purchased by some players, is now convertible to a new in-game currency that can be used to acquire exclusive cosmetics.

Finally, the “Echoes” update introduces several gameplay changes aimed at refining the game and enhancing its performance. Some changes include randomized weapon drops, collectible armors with stats, a plethora of cosmetics and housing items, eased character awakening processes, as well as the incorporation of traditional RPG talents in the game’s progression. The update will also see the launch of the latest Wayfinder: Grendel, new Hunts, and a new Overlands zone.
