Diablo 4 Patch Considerably Lowers the Expense of Transforming Masterwork Materials

Blizzard’s newest Loot Reborn patch for Diablo 4, which has overhauled some core game systems, now significantly reduces the gold cost of transmutation in item Masterworking. Masterworking, a system launched in the patch, gives players a new approach to upgrade their items and presents a new endgame dungeon, the Pit, where players can earn crafting materials Obducite, Ingolith, and Neathiron. These materials of varying rarity tiers can be unlocked through progression in the Pit where they can be transmuted at the Alchemist.

The most recent patch has slashed the gold cost for this transmutation process, with the most costly transmutation, the Large Ingolith Cache, dipping from 6 million gold to a meagre 60,000. Despite this, other material costs persist unchanged, with one Neathiron transforming into three Ingolith, and one Ingolith transmuting into three Obducite. The patch also promises to bring “various performance and stability improvements,” as highlighted in the patch notes.

Despite some criticisms, for instance the changes made to the Salvage All Items feature, the response of the players towards the major Diablo 4 Loot Reborn patch has been largely positive. Blizzard has linked this to their move to playtest the patch using a Public Test Realm before its public release. More for Diablo 4 is due, as its first major expansion, Vessel of Hatred is set to be released later this year.
