PC players have been anxiously awaiting news on whether the much-anticipated GTA 6 will be released on PC following its console release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. In response, the CEO of Take-Two, Rockstar’s parent company, has hinted in a recent interview at the possibility of a later PC release. The CEO, Strauss Zelnick, pointed to Rockstar’s historical release strategy and emphasized their focus on being where the consumer is, suggesting that despite initial exclusivity on consoles, the game might eventually reach the PC gaming platform.
The delay for PC release is in line with Rockstar’s past behavior, as the studio has often released its titles on console before making them available on PC. However, some fans had hoped that the sheer magnitude of GTA 6 might change this trend, only for their expectations to be dashed. Given the slated 2025 release window for GTA 6, PC players might not receive access until 2026 at the earliest, contributing to the uncertainty and apprehension among the PC gaming community.
The first trailer for GTA 6 has garnered massive attention, gaining the most views for a video game reveal within 24 hours on YouTube. Set in Leonida, a fictional version of Florida, players get to control two characters, Lucia and an unnamed male speculated to be Jason. Despite concerns raised due to internal issues at Rockstar and the uncertainty surrounding the PC release, both Take-Two and Rockstar remain determined to launch GTA 6 within the specified timeframe.
