During the 2024 World Series of Warzone qualifying rounds, Raven Software made a surprise decision and nerfed the DG-58 LSW, a preferred weapon among competitors. Season 3 saw a major nerf to the JAK Nightshade’s damage values, max damage range, and headshot multiplier. The modification turned the Light Machine Gun into a formidable Assault Rifle (AR) which prompted the majority of players to adopt it as their weapon of choice. Despite the nerf, the weapon remained compelling in the arena. Raven Software, post the Season 4 update, decided to reduce the gun’s dominancy by introducing a ‘gradual damage falloff’ feature.
Raven Software’s decision aimed to balance the competitions and create variety among the players, who after this patch might choose alternative weapons like MTZ-556, SOA Subverter, or Holger 26. The software update for Warzone dated June 4 introduced a series of changes beyond the weapon balance. For instance, the plunder challenge requirement is now to complete 20 games while Perk Packs could be obtained from medical cabinets. Additionally, Precision Airstrikes were restored to their functionality before Season 4, and DG-58 LSW’s minimum damage and maximum range decreased.
The update also came with numerous bug fixes and gameplay changes. For example, problems with the Looping Killstreaks modifier were resolved, while exploits allowing Custom Mods to save multiple Attachments to one category were addressed. Aside from the changes, the update also corrected a variety of inaccurate graphics and names across the platform. Lastly, the update introduced new weapon amendments, changes to gameplay modes, and alterations in zombie gameplay. This comprehensive update was designed to offer a fair, challenging, and enjoyable gaming experience for Warzone players, regardless of their preferred weapons or tactics.
