The annual Summer Game Fest concluded, featuring the highly-anticipated Day of the Devs, an event responsible for digital and physical showcases of indie games. This year, the non-profit organization presented 21 games, including various genres such as sims, horror, arcade, RPGs, and more. One notable game making a reappearance from last year, is “Simpler Times,” developed by Stoneskip and published by iam8bit. Focused on celebrating the “beauty of the ordinary,” it allows players to engage in ordinary tasks, offering a calming gaming experience which is available now on Steam.
“Battler Vision Network,” from Grindstone and Below developer Capybara Games is another standout, reimagining Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes. The game, set in an innovative cross of space travel and Eurovision, offers a spiritual successor to Clash of Heroes’ multiplayer, with players competing in matches while building color-coordinated units. Players can strategically select different teams and customize units to add another layer of engagement. It will be available on mobile, PC, and consoles.
Other noteworthy titles include “Cairn,” a climbing game by The Game Bakers, testing players’ resilience with realistic climbing sim control schemes, “Petal Runner,” a GBA-style RPG depicting a world where flowers fuel virtual pets, and “Karma: The Dark World,” a first-person narrative game that involves diving into people’s minds to uncover truths, which could challenge players’ allegiance to different parts in the story. All these games are scheduled to release on PC and consoles in the future.
