During the 2024 World Series of Warzone qualifying matches in June, Raven Software nerfed the DG-58 LSW weapon, popular amongst most competitors. The changes came despite previous nerfing in the Season 3 Reloaded update which affected the JAK Nightshade’s damage values, max damage range, and headshot multiplier; however, the weapon still remained in frequent use. In response to its continued dominance, the Warzone development team decided to introduce a gradual damage falloff in a Season 4 update.
The developers felt the DG-58 LSW maintained excess dominance at a range, which led them to introduce the gradual damage falloff. This alteration retains the gun’s competitiveness in close-mid encounters but introduces some decline in its power in long-range fights. Following this patch, competitors are expected to rely on alternatives like the MTZ-556, SOA Subverter, or Holger 26.
The June 4 update contained numerous changes, including a modification to the Plunder challenge and medical cabinets now having the ability to drop Perk Packs. The damage of the DG-58 LSW was decreased along with adjustments to the weapon’s damage range. The update patch notes also touched upon bug fixes like the correction of placeholder images and addressing an exploit allowing Custom Mods to save with multiple attachments for a single category. Fixes were introduced to prevent disconnection in matches and to ensure correct weapon performance.
