Unveiled at the Xbox Showcase on June 9, “Clair Obscur: Expedition 33”, an innovative turn-based role-playing game, invites players into a fantasy world where they’re racing against time to stop a disastrous cycle of destruction. The game’s combat style, inspired by Persona 5, was a prominent feature of the trailer, displaying intriguing turn-based action and a suave user-interface. Players will control a group of four characters, each with distinct abilities, allowing them to overcome various challenges. The fantasy aesthetic, influenced by French elements, becomes evident in the trailer with an imagined destroyed Eiffel Tower.

The game’s storyline revolves around a malevolent being named the Painter, notorious for “repainting” the world annually, causing the death of innocents. Players are part of a novel team embarked on a mission to halt this cycle, following in the footsteps of numerous preceding failed expeditions.

“Clair Obscur: Expedition 33” is slated to launch in 2025 on Xbox Series X|S, and will be available on Xbox Game Pass at its release.
