Masahiro Sakurai has announced the completion of the final episode for his YouTube channel “Masahiro Sakurai on Creating Games”. Sakurai revealed this on his Twitter account, while noting that the release date is yet to be determined as other regular episodes will precede it. The decision to conclude the series was made public in early January 2024, making 2024 the last year for new episodes on the channel.
Since its establishment in August 2022, the channel, available in both Japanese and English languages, has gained almost 1.18 million followers with a nearly equal split between the two languages. The channel’s final episode is set to appear in 2024. Sakurai’s work on the channel has not gone unnoticed by the gaming community.
In August 2023, Sakurai was honored with two awards at the CEDEC Awards 2023 for his contribution to the YouTube channel. These awards included the Game Design award and the Visual Arts award, demonstrating the high regard the channel holds within the gaming industry.
