Marvel vs Capcom 2, the highly favored fighting game of yesteryears, is finally getting a proper PC release announced recently via a new bundle of the comic-book crossover series arriving on Steam this year. This Marvel vs Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics bundle also includes the series’ precursor, Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, along with other five games featuring Marvel’s superheroes either on their own or with Capcom’s fighters. Some key highlights include Capcom’s first Marvel based fighting game, X-Men: Children of the Atom; Marvel Superheroes which added more diverse characters; and pre-Marvel vs Capcom crossovers X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter.
The collection also features the 1993 beat-em-up game, The Punisher which is the first product of the Capcom and Marvel partnership, acting as a forerunner to the MvC series. This PC version will be notably based on the popular arcade version rather than its less received console port. The Fighting Collection is touted not just as a bundle of games, but as a piece of gaming history. It will feature a museum, an array of display filters, and other modern additions like online multiplayer, spectator mode, and leaderboards.
The Fighting Collection, which will launch on Steam at some point this year, is being keenly anticipated by the gaming community thanks to the inclusion of iconic games that are making their long-awaited debut on PC. The bundle is considered as a splendid return of the classic games which would also be available on Steam Deck via official means.
