According to Blizzard in a recent livestream, Diablo 4 Season 5, launching August 6, will bring significant changes to world bosses and endgame Pit dungeon bosses. World bosses will now feature a “resilience” mechanic designed to normalize damage, forcing players to face the bosses and their attacks directly instead of easily eliminating them. Endgame Pit dungeon bosses will also see their damage reduced by an impressive 66%, making encounters less lethal for players, while phantom enemies will apply a stacking debuff that heightens received damage, incentivizing cautious gameplay.

Improvements are also made for Diablo 4’s enlistable endgame bosses. The update allows bosses to be resummoned multiple times without resetting dungeons, making grinding bosses more efficient. Other changes include adjusting the Beast in Ice summoning location closer to its dungeon entry and removing the Sigils requirement for summoning. Varshan’s summon will be simplified, requiring only Malignant Hearts instead of numerous items; existing parts can be converted into Malignant Hearts at the Alchemist.

Along with boss updates, Diablo 4 Season 5 will introduce major amendments to virtually all of the game’s Unique items, adjusting every class in an effort to balance the power level of the Barbarian, which will see its power reduced. The upcoming season will be shorter, ending with the debut of the game’s first expansion, Vessel of Hatred, and Season 6 on October 8.
