Paradox Interactive has unveiled its new Stellaris: Cosmic Storms expansion for the sci-fi strategy game, slated for a PC launch on September 10, 2024. Included in this expansion are a host of fresh technologies and edicts to combat the novel Cosmic Storm threat, the innovative Storm Chaser origin, and two enticing precursor stories. The expansion modifies the existing storm systems with 8 distinct types of Cosmic Storms – Electric, Particle, Gravity, Magnetic, Radiant, Stardust, Shroud, and Nexus – that randomly appear and dynamically evolve over the map.

In addition, the expansion introduces the Storm Chaser Origin, which represents an empire of individuals set on testing their boundaries. These thrill-seekers lean into the challenge presented by the volatile Cosmic Storms presented by the cosmos for their spiritual growth. Accompanying this new origin are three civics: Astrometeorology, Storm Devotion, and Environmental Architects. They also uncover two fresh precursor stories exploring the ancient masters of the storms, the Weather Manipulators, and the adAkkaris Convention of Benevolence who have vanished.

Stellaris: Cosmic Storms has been priced at $12.99 and will be launched on PC via Steam. As part of the Season 8 Season Pass, it will also be incorporated into the monthly Expansion Subscription for Stellaris.
