Square Enix has unveiled new features for Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, scheduled to drop on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on October 24. The details include new character classes, kingdom development, the Glimmer system, and new spells and formations. Among the revealed character classes are two mages, a knowledgeable strategist, the Levante Guard’s soldier, fisherwoman Natalie, crafts-mole Siero, and the mermaid Thetis. These characters will exist within scenarios that Square Enix released details about in June and July of 2024.
The game also introduces a way of gaining new skills through the Glimmer system. Players can view class affinities for learning techniques via the glimmer chart. Unknown techniques are indicated with question marks, while an icon slashed by a diagonal line signifies techniques a character class cannot learn. For instance, Vacuum Slash is an ability obtained from Whirlwind, and Rock Splitter can be gleaned from Twinstrike.
Finally, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven presents new spells and formations that were absent from the original game. Notably, the Water Blast, a hydrology spell, throws a splash of water at an enemy, and the Pulverize, a terrology spell, calls on a floating boulder to strike a foe. Novel formations for players to execute will also debut. Square Enix promises to pack these features and more into the upcoming release, enhancing the game’s excitement and fun factor.
