Renowned skateboarder Tony Hawk recently revealed in an interview that he and Activision are in discussions about a new project. The disclosure comes as the 25th anniversary of the Pro Skater series approaches, sparking speculation that a new Tony Hawk game could be in development. Hawk remained tight-lipped about the project but indicated that it is something fans will appreciate.
Activision and Hawk have a longstanding collaboration, beginning when Hawk pitched a skateboarding game to various companies. Once approached by Activision, the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series was born. The wildly successful franchise has sold over $1.4 billion in copies, according to Hawk’s official website. During the interview, Hawk reminisced about the series’ early days, when skeptics dismissed the potential for a skateboarding video game.
The most recent addition to the Tony Hawk series was the remastered versions of Pro Skater 1 and 2, released on Steam last year in October. While it’s unclear what the new project might be, fans are hopeful that it might be the remakes of Pro Skater 3 and 4.
