NCSoft, the ever inventive developers behind popular game, Throne and Liberty, has rolled out the first update since the game’s launch. This update, named 1.1.0, involves a number of bug-rectifications aimed predominantly at the user interface and settings, along with a host of performance enhancements.
Specifically, players on the PlayStation 5 platform will notice a particular optimization incorporated into patch 1.1.0, which is designed to mitigate issues with screen tearing. On the other hand, Xbox Series X and S devices have seen marked upgrades in the world map’s resolution through this new update.
Throne and Liberty is already making waves with an animated start on Steam within its initial week. Notably, it registered a peak concurrent player count of 326,377, thereby ranking it only behind Valve’s own Dota 2, Counter-Strike 2, and the consistent success, Banana. Worth mentioning that Throne and Liberty has also released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. However, the precise player numbers for these platforms remain undisclosed by Sony and Microsoft.
Despite garnering mixed reviews largely around server issues and microtransactions, the game boasts an impressive early performance. Originally conceived as a sequel to Lineage, Throne and Liberty thrives as a free-to-play MMO with PvE and PvP gameplay, set within a vibrant and consistent world. However, it experienced several delays during an extensive and convoluted development cycle spanning a few years.
Early impressions of Throne and Liberty suggested that the game was enjoyable, albeit lacking in unique standout features. Nevertheless, this hasn’t deterred a strong player base.
