In a major announcement, Supergiant Games declared their first significant update to Hades 2 on Wednesday, appropriately dubbed the Olympic Update. Available from early access stage since May, the game has since seen a plethora of patches and minor improvements. The Olympic Update surpasses all previous updates with its wealth of fresh content, featuring a new location, weapons, blessings, characters, and exciting voice lines.
In the detailed announcement made on Steam, Supergiant Games highlighted the myriad features to anticipate. Among the exciting inclusions is a new region – Olympus, the sacred mount of the gods. It poses the intriguing question: can you ascend Olympus, and once there, will you be able to protect it?
Alongside this, a new weapon has been introduced – the mystical Xinth, the Black Coat, the last remnant of the Nocturnal Arms. Fans can also expect to encounter two new characters. On their home terrain, you’ll have the chance to meet, interact with them, and win their favor.
For animal lovers, the update also introduces two new familiars with whom you’ll be able to bond once you discover them. Besides, players get the opportunity to unlock a multitude of new cosmetic items to customize the Crossroads aesthetically to their liking.
In terms of narrative, the Olympic Update adds depth with hours of freshly minted dialogue that tightens the plot once players land in the newly added region. Furthermore, a world map has been added to assist in navigation between different regions around the world.
The update also brings an exciting announcement for Mac users. Hades 2 is now compatible with Macs and runs natively on Apple M1 or later models.

As for the future of Hades 2, Supergiant Games remains committed to its continuous improvement, leading up to the completion of its early access stage. “Our next major update in early access won’t be our last,” they assured. The following stage would concentrate on what transpires after the third region. Once that is achieved, Supergiant Games aims to “consider the main structure of the Surface Route to be complete.”
