The indie gaming scene creates waves again as Poncle, the creative team responsible for the game Vampire Survivors, announces an exciting and substantial new downloadable content (DLC) pack. “Ode to Castlevania,” as it is titled, is set to launch on October 31, priced at just $4. This DLC pack pays due tribute to one of Vampire Survivors’ major guiding influences, the remarkable and enduring Castlevania franchise.
This monumental release, marking a key festival event, is set to be the biggest expansion in the relatively short but impressive history of Vampire Survivors. “Ode To Castlevania” presents an unabashedly enthusiastic homage to the lasting legacy of the revered adventure game series. Notable expansions in this pack include the introduction of more than 20 new heroes, 40 innovative weapons, and a map that’s the most expansive yet seen in Vampire Survivors. The expanded gameplay area also promises an array of hidden surprises, along with a host of formidable bosses to test player’s skills.
The upcoming DLC announcement took the gaming community by surprise, capturing the anticipation of gamers on various platforms. Taking a deeper look at what’s set to be the most extensive DLC to date, players can anticipate at least an additional 10 hours of gameplay. With over 20 new characters, over 40 new weapons, and an enormously vast stage to explore, players are bound for an exciting new journey.
Among the characters to expect are esteemed Belmonts including Simon, Richter, Trevor, and Sonia. A series of witches are also making an appearance including known names like Sypha and Yoko Belnade, Charlotte Aulin, and Maria Renard. Gamers can also anticipate discovering eight unique whip weapons and a range of elemental spells, designed with an undeniable touch of inspiration from Portrait Of Ruin and Harmony Of Dissonance. Interestingly, magic weapons will also make their entry, with Alucard’s sword, spear, and shield being particularly noteworthy mentions.
In an additional artistic flare, the Ode To Castlevania pack introduces over 30 reimagined musical tracks from the historical Castlevania’s soundtrack. These tracks have been enticingly remixed in the uniquely atmospheric style of Vampire Survivors by composers including Daniele Zandara and Filippo Vicarelli, with a sample track, “Vampire Killer”, shared as a part of the announcement.
The relationship between Poncle and Konami isn’t just limited to this DLC. Previously they successfully collaborated in a Contra crossover event, which saw shooter heroes Bill and Lance leaping into the Vampire Survivors universe. They also engaged in a crossover with Among Us, introducing crewmates from the popular social deduction game into the vampire-ridden world through the “Emergency Meeting” pack launched in December 2023.
Looking forward to the imminent release, the “Ode To Castlevania” addition to Vampire Survivors is set to hit Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, PC and mobile devices from October 31, ensuring an almost universal access for players to dive into this exciting update. With this DLC, Vampire Survivors keeps its stake (quite literally, considering its vampire narrative) in the highly competitive gaming scene, promising a ‘fang-tastic’ continuation of the journey for both new and old players alike.
