Prominent game developer Blizzard Entertainment is embarking on a mission to rectify one of its biggest missteps. During the celebration of Warcraft’s 30th year anniversary event, much to the excitement of the gaming community, Blizzard revealed significant updates for Warcraft 3: Reforged and confirmed the remasters for the original Warcraft and Warcraft 2.
Warcraft 3: Reforged, a 2020 remaster of the strategically brilliant game, Warcraft 3: Reign of Chaos and its stellar expansion, The Frozen Throne, is set to receive an overhaul. But Blizzard’s ambition extends beyond just one title. The classic Warcraft and Warcraft 2 have also gotten facelifts and are ready for players to delve into their immersive worlds once again.
“When a product fails to meet our standard, we endeavor to fix it. When we make erroneous decisions, we strive to correct them. We are committed to enhancing our products until they reach their true potential,” stated Brad Chan, the Senior Manager of the Warcraft RTS team, during a video release that announced the significant updates.
In the 2.0 update for Warcraft 3: Reforged, Blizzard plans to rejuvenate the game’s environmental rendering and lighting, renovate the in-game interface, and upscale all classic Warcraft 3 assets to an exquisite HD quality. Furthermore, this update aims to augment the player experience with new quality-of-life maxims, including in-game hotkey customization, a revamped leaderboard system, and a plethora of other exciting features, as stated by Chan.
Blizzard’s retrofitted versions of Warcraft and Warcraft 2 are developed with “striking, hand-drawn visuals that pay homage to the unique artistic style of each game,” as explained by the company. Players are given the liberty to switch between the original and the revamped graphics in real time. The original Warcraft is outfitted with a modern control system featuring right-click movement, bandbox selection, and increased game speed. Both reinvented games have also received much-needed enhancements to their UI and UX.
Blizzard offers the upgraded versions of Warcraft, Warcraft 2, and Warcraft 3 as standalone products, but fans can also buy all three in a fresh Warcraft Battle Chest package. Players can get their hands on this bundle directly through Blizzard’s Battle.net for just $39.99.
The journey of Warcraft 3: Reforged has been rocky since its conceptualization in 2018. The team envisioned a spectacular remake of the influential real-time strategy game that played a pivotal role in shaping the enthralling lore of Azeroth. However, the end product released in 2020 was meet with heavy criticism from the beloved Warcraft fanbase. To address the shortfalls, Blizzard publicly apologized and offered refunds to customers dissatisfied with the game’s quality.
Looking ahead, Blizzard Entertainment adopts a resolve to reflect on its mistakes, commit to rectifying them, and strive tirelessly to elevate the state of its games until they meet not only the expectations of the company but also the lofty standards set by its dedicated fans. Undeniably, these much-awaited game updates and remastered releases are a promising step towards that commitment. Keep an eye out for more updates and news on https://awesomeradicalgaming.com/.
