The evolution of the gaming industry always brings surprises, and one of the latest is an unprecedented fusion of soundtracks. The developers behind Fantasian Neo Dimension have introduced a truly unique feature – the ability to use Final Fantasy music throughout battles. Originally not included in its Apple Arcade release, the inclusion of these beloved tunes has left many intrigued and curious.
You might be wondering: How does it work? So, to break it down for you, here’s a list of Final Fantasy battle songs that I’ve come across in the opening hours of the game. It’s important to understand that this list is based solely on my gameplay and there’s a possibility that more songs may be discovered as one continues playing. At present, the feature to use Final Fantasy music during Fantasian Neo Dimension battles hasn’t been updated in the Apple Arcade version.
Changing the battle soundtracks is surprisingly simple. You can do so by engaging the right shoulder button from the title screen or changing it from the Config menu while playing the game. Here are the Final Fantasy songs that I found in the game so far, suitable for different kinds of battles within Fantasian Neo Dimension – normal non-story battles, boss battles, and Dimengeon battles. However, bear in mind that certain story-specific battles have established themes and won’t play Final Fantasy music.
Take the tracks from Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker that I’ve discovered in the game. For normal battles, you’ll hear the dynamic ‘Battle 2 (Endwalker)’ from Final Fantasy IV, for boss battles, the suspenseful ‘Battle with the Four Fiends (Buried Memory)’, and for Dimengeon battles, the intense ‘The Final Battle (Endwalker)’ from Final Fantasy IV.
The songs originating from Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail aren’t short of impressive either. The normal battle theme ‘Dawntrail (Instrumental)’, the boss battle track ‘Seeking Purpose’, and the Dimengeon battle music ‘The Skyruin’ promise immersive gaming experience.
Among the selections, there are tracks from the Final Fantasy VII Remake I’ve also come across. If you’re engaged in a normal battle, listen out for ‘Bombing Mission (FFVII Remake)’, for boss battles, ‘Scorpion Sentinel (FFVII Remake)’ amplifies the conflict, and for Dimengeon battles, the tune is ‘Let the Battles Begin! – Break Through (FFVII Remake)’.
Meanwhile, soundtracks from Final Fantasy VII Rebirth also make their standout appearance. The normal battle track is ‘The Turks – Reno and Rude (FF7 Rebirth OST Ver.)’, for boss encounters, ‘J-E-N-O-V-A – Emergence (FF7 Rebirth OST Ver.)’, while Dimengeon battles are complemented by ‘Battle on the Big Bridge – Rebirth (FF7 Rebirth OST Ver.)’.
The game even brings in tunes from Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster. ‘Battle (FFPR Ver.)’ from Final Fantasy I Pixel Remaster plays during normal battles, ‘Last Battle -3- (FFPR Ver.)’ from Final Fantasy III Pixel Remaster plays during boss battles, and during Dimengeon battles, you’re treated to ‘The Final Battle (FFPR Ver.)’ from Final Fantasy IV Pixel Remaster.
Last but not least, the tracks from Final Fantasy XVI are just as compelling. During normal battles, listen to ‘Sixteen Bells’, boss battles bring ‘No Risk, No Reward’, and for Dimengeon battles, look forward to ‘Find the Flame.
The musical surprise from Fantasian Neo Dimension shows an innovative way of integrating classic game soundtracks into new gaming experiences. This feature offers a nostalgic yet fresh gaming atmosphere for both old-time and new fans. Fantasian Neo Dimension can now be enjoyed on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
