As 2025 unfolds, gamers across the globe are awaiting the revelation of an untitled Star Wars turn-based tactics game, announced by EA and developed by Bit Reactor. This studio, consisting of veteran developers from Firaxis Games, is well-known for its formidable work on the XCOM franchise. Notably, Bit Reactor has collaborated with the team at Respawn Entertainment, which is renowned for its work on Star Wars Jedi, to bring this phenomenal new project to life.

Star Wars fans and game enthusiasts can look forward to the first glimpse of this game scheduled for April 19. This exciting introduction to the game will take place live, with a panel featuring essential members of the Bit Reactor development team, alongside their colleagues from Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games. These revelations have been included in the official schedule for the highly anticipated Star Wars Celebration 2025.

While there is a veil of mystery surrounding the specifics of the game, including its Star Wars era setting and intricate aspects of gameplay, the developers’ background in XCOM gives a hint of what kind of gameplay to expect. It’s not unreasonable to imagine a game that combines XCOM’s strategic and tactical elements with a coating of the iconic Star Wars universe, promising an immersive gaming experience.

Adding to the anticipation, Respawn Entertainment is also known to be working on a third installment in its acclaimed Star Wars Jedi Trilogy. While adoption into the Star Wars Celebration this year remains uncertain, the continuation of this acclaimed series is guaranteed to generate substantial excitement among the players.

On another note, Respawn Entertainment had planned a third Star Wars game featuring first-person shooter gameplay and centering on a Mandalorian protagonist. However, during a significant reshuffling at EA, this game was unfortunately canceled, resulting in around 670 staff members losing their jobs. Additionally, in early March, Respawn decided to quietly abandon a multiplayer first-person shooter that was in the early development stage, enhancing the aura of mystery around forthcoming Star Wars games.

Star Wars Celebration 2025 won’t be limited to gaming alone. Fans will also be treated to a sneak peek of Lucasfilm’s much-hyped The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, gearing up for its release in May 2026. Attendees will also have an opportunity to see the first look of Star Wars: Visions Volume 3.
