Valve’s multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, Deadlock, an intriguing mashup of a shooter and MOBA, has kept gamers intrigued particularly since its initial launch. Rumors swirled around the Internet about the game for months, with numerous pieces of leaked footage tantalizing the gaming community before Valve officially announced the existence of this highly secretive game. Bringing innovative gameplay into the popular MOBA genre, the title has managed to amass a multitude of dedicated gamers willing to participate in its ongoing closed alpha test.
Yet, in a curious turn of events, it appears there might be another layer of secrecy surrounding Deadlock, with an even more private alpha test. This was accidentally revealed during a live stream by YouTube gamer Deathy, resulting in an unexpected twist to the already mysterious events surrounding the development of this game.
Deathy, during one of his live streams, seems to have inadvertently launched a different version of Deadlock. The gaming community was amazed when, instead of the usual alpha test, an improved edition featuring enhanced and augmented aspects popped on the screen. This came as a surprise to viewers who were used to the primary alpha test that included 30 distinct characters.
Aligning with Valve’s reputation for break-the-mould gaming experiences, the new characters were headlined by an additional roster of 10 fresh heroes, taking the total count to 40. Moreover, the already familiar 30 heroes underwent noticeable changes in their designs, sparking waves of approval and criticism in equal measure across the gaming community.
Among the new characters that were not available in the familiar alpha version, the most intriguing ones include a bellhop-themed character named Doorman, a character named Frank- a witty nod to Mary Shelley’s iconic character, and Punkgoat, who bizarrely sports artwork identical to that of the already existing character named Shiv.
Deathy, realizing his unintentional mistake, hastily concluded the live stream and promptly removed the archived footage, but not before savvy viewers managed to capture screenshots and share them on the official Deadlock subreddit. The surprising revelation has since caused a stir within the Deadlock community, fueling speculation about what could be still hidden.
Deadlock, fueled by Valve’s masterful art of game development, is a thrilling 6v6 multiplayer shooter.
