Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone, the mind behind the beloved title Stardew Valley, has become renowned for his consistent commitment to improving and upgrading his creation through continuous updates. However, despite his preference for enriching Stardew Valley, Barone shared that he doesn’t entirely exclude the possibility of unveiling a Stardew Valley 2 in the less immediate future.
The renowned game developer’s opinion surfaced during an episode of Bobby Lee’s TigerBelly podcast. When probed on why he has not considered producing a sequel to Stardew Valley, Barone explained his inclination towards updates as opposed to kicking off an entirely new project. “It is significantly more convenient to incorporate additional elements in Stardew Valley than constructing a brand-new game from the scratch,” Barone stated. “With Stardew Valley, every major system is already in place.”
Although he is currently more inclined towards focusing energy on updates, Barone shared words of encouragement for fans holding on to the hope of a bona fide sequel. “To be frank, I might eventually develop a Stardew Valley 2,” he reflected. Before venturing into territory as familiar yet new as a sequel, Barone expressed his desire to deviate from the road well-traveled for a while. “The objective is not to be synonymous with only Stardew Valley; hence, I am also concentrating on Haunted Chocolatier.”
Haunted Chocolatier is another gaming project that Barone presented almost four years ago. It was made clear to the fans that they should not expect a sequel anytime soon because most of Barone’s attention is currently focused on developing his new project. After directing considerable effort and energy towards Stardew Valley’s version 1.6, Barone’s primary concern now lies with Haunted Chocolatier.
The latter game remains in the making, with no specific launch timeline disclosed as of yet. When Bobby Lee queried whether we could anticipate its launch within the next five years, Barone displayed optimism: “I hope so. That’s the goal.”
However, despite having a new project underway, Barone hasn’t entirely sidelined Stardew Valley. The farming simulation video game got its version 1.6.9 updated in November, which included new elements like legendary fish ponds and an innovative approach to retrieve lost items.
Since its launch in 2016, Stardew Valley has undergone several upgrades. Barone’s consistent and diligent updates indicate his dedication to providing a sophisticated gaming experience to his fans. While he continues to refine the current version of Stardew Valley, the gaming community watches with bated breath and hopeful expectations for the launch of his new game, The Haunted Chocolatier, and possibly, a sequel to the popular farming sim further down the line. Regardless of how events unfold, Barone’s gaming prowess promises an exciting future for the gaming community.
