Silksong Demo Slated for Gamescom 2025 Unveiling

Fans of Hollow Knight can rejoice! Team Cherry has announced a playable demo of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the long-anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed Hollow Knight, will be showcased at the much-awaited Gamescom event in Europe. The confirmation, recently made via an Xbox social media post, has caused a surge of speculation about a potential release date announcement during the event.

Since Hollow Knight: Silksong has completed its lengthy development cycle it will be playable at the upcoming Gamescom event in Germany. Xbox, the frontman of the event, is planning a live event on August 20 and 21, stirring expectations of a potential Silksong launch date announcement.

Hollow Knight: Silksong, a visually remarkable game, will have a comeback presence at the Cologne-based show in 2025 after foregoing the previous year’s event. Going by the Xbox announcement, over 20 demos, including Silksong, are planned for the event. Not to be missed is the showcasing of the first playable ROG Xbox Ally handhelds which were initially announced in conjunction with Silksong, suggesting the game will be playable on both, the new system and PCs.

The Gamescom event will play host to an elaborate Xbox booth featuring over 120 gaming stations, photo ops, and immersive experiences. Featured games range from both first and third party titles. Some standout titles sharing the spotlight with Hollow Knight: Silksong include Grounded 2, the debut demo of Ninja Gaiden 4, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Borderlands 4, Onimusha: Way of The Sword, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, EA Sports FC 26, Aniimo, There Are No Ghosts at the Grand, PowerWash Simulator 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade, Final Fantasy XVI, Invincible VS, Super Meat Boy 3D, Cronos: The New Dawn, and Mistfall Hunter.

The Xbox Gamescom event will also feature new footage from the upcoming World of Warcraft expansion and The Outer Worlds 2, further solidifying Xbox’s high-profile presence at the event. Attendees can explore the new building system in World of Warcraft: Midnight, and look forward to the unveiling of the expansion’s opening movie during Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 19.

Moreover, Gamescom will host an exclusive theater presentation spotlighting The Outer Worlds 2. Although not playable, fans can look forward to this immersive experience offering an intriguing ‘look inside the Tomb of the Matriarch’.

Playable demos typically serve as a harbinger of the nearing game release. With the Hollow Knight: Silksong demo featuring at Gamescom, it appears that the game’s 2025 release is imminent. The original Hollow Knight garnered impressive ratings with a 90 Top Critic average score on OpenCritic, tipped by 99% of outlets. Its sequel’s imminent release is likely to generate significant attention, especially if a firm release date is announced at Gamescom.
