Battlefield 6 Trailer Satirizes Call of Duty’s Celebrity Culture

Battlefield 6 players have largely voiced their preference for a game experience unlike that of Call of Duty, particularly regarding the latter’s emphasis on celebrity operators and whimsical, animated skins such as Beavis and Butt-head. In response, Electronic Arts (EA) and Battlefield Studios have crafted a live-action trailer for Battlefield 6, humorously satirizing their counterpart game’s celebrity reliance by introducing and swiftly eliminating a slew of famous soldiers.

Among the celebrities featured are Zac Efron, Jimmy Butler, Morgan Wallen, and Paddy Pimblett, who portray themselves as warriors – perhaps a bit too mortal for their military assignments. This teaser seems a cheeky nod towards the Call of Duty advertisement series, ‘There’s A Soldier In All Of Us,’ which has previously showcased celebrities ranging from Sam Worthington and Jonah Hill to Dwight Howard.

While the Call of Duty series portrays these celebrities trading gunfire in a war zone nonchalantly, of course, Battlefield 6 paints a starkly different picture, one filled with urban destruction and chaotic combat, providing less than ideal circumstances for these on-screen soldiers.

Promotions prior to this live-action satire have given audiences a glimpse of Battlefield 6’s campaign mode, demonstrating how the entirely destructible environments can revolutionize gameplay. Another highlight of the game, Battlefield 6’s Portal mode, was unveiled in another trailer, showcasing the creative potential available to players. Battlefield 6’s Portal mode allows for customizable map creations that add to the game’s distinct brand of chaos.

Rebecka Coutaz, DICE’s executive, has recently spoken about her sense of commitment to elevate Battlefield in light of Battlefield 2042’s lukewarm reception. Dueling with Call of Duty’s star-studded ensemble seems one tactic in the game’s strategic campaign for reinvention. Having offered firsthand insights into gameplay during a preview session, Awesome Radical Gaming invites fans to provide their evaluations when Battlefield 6 is released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PCs on October 10th.
