Bandai Namco, subsequent to the announcement of Code Vein II at the esteemed Tokyo Game Show, divulged further details and enticing screenshots for the upcoming action RPG. An in-depth look into the game’s mechanics, such as Partner characters, array of weaponry, and character customization, was offered.
Code Vein II presents a post-apocalyptic universe where the existence of humankind is precariously slipping away. The abrupt appearance of an ominous menace known as Luna Rapacis has led to the transformation of Revenants – humans granted supernatural powers at the steep price of intense bloodlust – into gruesome beasts named Horrors. Players have the privilege of steering a bespoke protagonist, aided by a cryptic girl named Lou MagMell, on a journey that transcends time, precisely a century back, to overhaul the world’s doomladen fate.
In this treacherous world, the protagonist is accompanied by various allies. These companions can transform into Partners by integrating their essence into the protagonist’s core. This facilitates the summoning of these allies into battle, each bearing unique strengths and frailties. Alternatively, players may opt for Assimilation, augmenting their abilities and introducing formidable attacks.
The game features a diverse caste, including the accomplished Valentin Voda, the heir of a celebrated Revenant dynasty, and the former head of the MagMell magical research institute. Noah G MagMell, a human transfigured into a Revenant who served at the MagMell institute, stands as a loyal shield to his friend Valentin. Josée Anjou, a Revenant commanding the Sunken City and safeguarding the remnants of humanity, is tortured by her past inability to avert devastation. Additionally, Holly Asturias, a Revenant medic with remarkable healing properties, is on a quest to cure the Horrors. Lyle McLeish, a renowned swordsman known for his audacity, seeks to reclaim certain territories. At the apex is Lavinia Voda, the current head of the MagMell institute and a descendant of the Progenitor Revenant. She charges Lou and the protagonist with the colossal task of time-traveling to preserve humanity.
The game’s armory is vast. In addition to the one- and two-handed swords, bayonets, halberds, and hammers from the first iteration, rune blades and dual swords are introduced. Combat entails draining ichor from adversaries to execute potent Forma attacks. Code Vein II introduces a new portfolio of Forma attacks and skills. Former Blood Veil attacks are now incorporated into a novel Jail equipment mechanism, unlocking new moves and tactics.
Code Vein II is set to release on January 30, 2026, and will cater to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Various editions are available for pre-order, including a special Collector’s Edition exclusive to the Bandai Namco Store.
