Declared to launch in March 2026, anticipating players can look forward to this long-awaited reboot of the cult classic Marathon franchise. Previously, it was scheduled for a release no later than March 31, 2026, having been postponed from its earlier September launch. Evidently, Bungie is investing all of its extended time into ensuring a successful launch, optimally leveraging the expertise gained from its previous blockbuster, Destiny 2.nnAn extensive 23-minute video was recently made public, detailing all the essential changes incorporated into Marathon over time. Bungie confirmed a variety of promising features that have been the topic of much speculation, including proximity chat, solo queue, and a revamped user interface. Additionally, fresh footage unveils a sneak-peek at the game’s evolved aesthetics and ambiance. In Bungie’s words, it embodies a heightened sense of realism, coarseness, menace, and the necessary mood to make an extraction shooter feel dangerous. As opposed to the alpha playtest of Marathon, the game seems to have undergone a significant transformation.nnThe rebooted Marathon aims to address the mixed reception received during its alpha playtest phase, which resulted in both Bungie and Sony Interactive Entertainment, its proprietor, rescheduling the launch. February had also seen a controversy over copied artwork. The latest Marathon video takes a deep dive into everything from gameplay mechanics to maps and loot systems. Most intriguing of all is a walk-through of the Cryo Archive – the UESC Marathon ship’s primary deck.
