Baldur’s Gate 3, with its captivating depth, was the sort of game that demanded hours even before the player’s journey truly began. The credit goes to its extensive character customization suite. Here, the players had the liberty to adjust various aspects of their characters – from race to intricate details. And now, Divinity, an upcoming enterprise from the house of Larian Studios, pledges an even richer spectrum of options for character fine-tuning when it finally hits the market.

“An improvement on what we already did! More colors, more choices, more control,” says Alena Dubrovina, the art director of Divinity during a Reddit AMA session. It indeed sets an ambitious standard for the studio. Baldur’s Gate 3’s system for character customization takes into account the full range of options, right from the basics to the unique biological variances conditional to the player’s opted race. Besides, there’s the option to tamper with the features of the characters’ faces and more. As if that wasn’t enough, the game even proposes an opportunity to sketch out a Spirit Guardian for each adventurer. This character graces the player’s dreams.

Divinity was officially introduced at The Game Awards last year and has been a buzz ever since. A handful of additional details about the game have since been disclosed. Players can look forward to co-op play in the forthcoming RPG. The studio, amidst controversy regarding the use of generative AI, assured that Divinity will avoid ‘any GenAI art’. This clarification came from none other than the studio CEO, Swen Vincke himself.

Baldur’s Gate 3 enjoyed an overwhelming success and as a result, has brought along immense pressure on Larian. However, Vincke is of the conviction that Divinity will rise to the occasion and will supersede Baldur’s Gate 3 ‘in every aspect’. Both the studio and the fans are excited to soon realize this belief.
