In a recent announcement, Compile Heart released details of their latest initiative, Villion: Code. This game is an exciting new addition to the collection of school RPGs created in partnership with Kouji Okada, known for being a integral part of the Megami Tensei and Persona series. This promising game was first revealed in the recent edition of Weekly Famitsu.
The planned release date for PlayStation 5, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and Switch is set for May 25, initially in Japan. Pricing detail for the physical editions have been released as well. The Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 and Switch is priced at 8,580 yen, while for the Switch 2, it is 9,680 yen. In the Limited Edition category, PlayStation 5 and Switch cost 10,780 yen, and for Switch 2 it would be 11,880 yen. Lastly, there is a Collector’s Edition that comes with a price tag of 17,380 yen for PlayStation 5 and Switch and 18,480 yen for Switch 2.
Interestingly, the PlayStation 4 version is focusing more on the digital wave as it will only have a digital release. The game sets up a gripping plot in a near-future university town floating on Tokyo Bay. The twist involves students and teachers mutating into monsters roaming the town. Dungeons in the game are procedurally generated giving them the shape of tube-like environments with unlimited vertical movement, similar to the revered arcade game, Gyruss. The game offers an intriguing combination of action and strategy with its pièce de résistance being the real-time speed action.
The game’s creative and production team is graced with some renowned names in the gaming industry, including Project Producer Kouji Okada who is the co-founder of ATLUS and a major contributer to the Megami Tensei and Persona series. The game also boasts the talents of Tadashi Satomi as scenario writer who has earned accolades for his work in Persona: Revelations and Persona 2. Sound Composer Tsukasa Masuko of Megami Tensei fame will be pulling the strings on the music side. We’re also anticipating brilliant character designs from Illya Kuvshinov. Adding some music punch to the game will be FRAM who is credited with the theme song. The vocal cast includes big names like Kengo Kawanishi, Aimi, Shunsuke Takeuchi, Atsushi Tamaru, Aoi Nagatsuki, Asami Shimoda.
