In a recent announcement, Spike Chunsoft celebrated a significant milestone for the popular game series, Shiren the Wanderer. Crossing the threshold of 3 million total sales worldwide, this achievement seems especially significant during the series’ 30th anniversary celebrations. This total number includes sales from all entries of the series across various gaming platforms.nnFocusing our attention on the series’ impressive journey, it is worth noting the positive reception and successful sales of its latest 6th mainline entry, Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. Launched in January 2024, it quickly sold 200,000 units in the initial two weeks post-release in Japan alone. Fast-forward to January 2025, in a conversation with Famitsu magazine, Spike Chunsoft staff revealed that its global sales had risen to 300,000 units. It’s important to mention, however, that over 90% of these sales originated from Japan.nnThe 5th entry in the series, The Tower of Fortune and the Dice of Fate, also boasts an impressive sales record. As of the end of 2022, it has sold over 500,000 units globally. The latest two entries, the 5th and the 6th, have further expanded their reach, now available worldwide on the Nintendo Switch, PC via Stream, as well as iOS and Android for The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island.
