Take-Two Interactive has reaffirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 is still scheduled to launch on November 19, offering another strong signal that one of the most anticipated games in the industry remains on course. The company shared the update while discussing what it described as an excellent start to its 2027 fiscal year, using the moment to highlight both the enduring strength of the Grand Theft Auto brand and the growing momentum behind the next mainline entry.
According to Take-Two, excitement around the upcoming release continues to rise worldwide, and the company pointed to an especially strong start for preorders. While it did not disclose exact preorder totals or the amount of revenue generated so far, the publisher made it clear that early demand has been significant. That level of interest is hardly surprising given the cultural weight of the series and the enormous expectations surrounding the next installment.
The company also emphasized the importance of the upcoming Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look presentation, which is set to arrive on August 27 and will stream exclusively on Netflix for six hours. Take-Two believes this event will further increase consumer enthusiasm in the final stretch before launch. In practical terms, the extended showcase is expected to serve as a major marketing beat, giving fans a deeper look at the game while helping maintain the intense buzz already surrounding it.
This confidence comes alongside continued success for the broader Grand Theft Auto franchise. Take-Two reported that Grand Theft Auto 5 has now sold more than 230 million copies worldwide, a staggering number that reinforces its place as one of the best-selling video games ever made. Only Minecraft sits ahead of it in the all-time rankings. Even more impressive is the fact that the series is still generating growth years after GTA 5 first launched, with Take-Two noting a 3% increase in recurring consumer spending tied to the franchise.
Financially, the publisher posted net bookings of $1.39 billion for the quarter, slightly above its earlier guidance range of $1.32 billion to $1.37 billion. That result suggests the company’s major brands are performing at a high level, with Grand Theft Auto playing a central role in investor optimism. Take-Two’s leadership appears to view the current fiscal year as a major turning point, describing it as an inflection point that could open a new chapter for the company and establish a foundation for even greater long-term success.
The publisher reiterated its full-year net bookings forecast of $8 billion to $8.2 billion. At the midpoint, that would represent roughly 20% growth over the previous fiscal year, a huge jump that many observers expect to be driven primarily by Grand Theft Auto 6. Take-Two also shared an expected label revenue mix for the year, estimating that Rockstar Games will account for about 37%, Zynga for 34%, and 2K for 29%. Those figures underline how important Rockstar’s next release will be to the company’s overall performance.
Outside of Grand Theft Auto, Take-Two’s quarterly report also highlighted strong results from NBA 2K. The basketball franchise saw recurring consumer spending grow 7%, and the company described NBA 2K26 as having delivered an outstanding performance that capped a record year for the series. The game has sold in more than 12 million units so far, representing 9% growth compared to NBA 2K25. Take-Two credited developer Visual Concepts for continuing to find new ways to keep players engaged, while also pointing to the franchise’s live-service model as a key driver of sustained success.
With NBA 2K27 scheduled for release this September, Take-Two appears well positioned across multiple major properties. The company also mentioned continued support from 2K for Borderlands 4, Sid Meier’s Civilization VII, and WWE 2K26, saying new offerings across those titles helped improve player engagement and overall sentiment. Specific sales figures were not provided for those games, but their inclusion shows that the publisher’s broader portfolio remains active even as attention centers heavily on Rockstar’s next blockbuster.
Looking further ahead, Take-Two still has several notable projects in the pipeline without confirmed release dates, including PGA Tour 2K27, WWE 2K27, Judas, Project Ethos, and the next BioShock. Even so, the conversation right now is dominated by Grand Theft Auto 6, and for good reason. Few games in history have arrived with this level of anticipation, and every official update is being closely watched by fans, analysts, and the wider games business.
For now, the biggest takeaway is simple: Take-Two says the November 19 release date remains intact. Combined with strong preorder momentum, a major extended showcase later this month, and the unmatched commercial history of the franchise, the road to launch appears to be accelerating. If the company’s confidence proves accurate, Grand Theft Auto 6 could become not just the biggest game of the year, but one of the defining entertainment releases of the generation.
