Marvel Cosmic Invasion Reveals Siege Gauge Mode

Dotemu and Tribute Games have finally pulled back the curtain on the mysterious new mode coming with The Siege of Castle Doom DLC for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. After earlier news confirmed that the expansion would launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch on November 10, 2026, fans already knew two major additions were on the way: Doctor Doom and Susan Richards, better known as the Invisible Woman, would join the playable roster. What remained unclear was the nature of the heavily teased extra mode. Now that mystery has been solved, and it looks like players are getting a roguelike-inspired challenge built around survival, upgrades, and constant pressure from Doom’s forces.

The newly revealed mode centers on something called the Siege Gauge, a mechanic that appears to define the pace and danger of each run. Players will move through Castle Doom while trying to survive a series of escalating encounters. Every battle completed helps charge the Stabilizer, a device created by Reed Richards to counter Doctor Doom’s latest scheme. That setup gives the mode a strong comic-book flavor while also introducing a clear gameplay loop: fight, survive, power up, and push deeper into the castle before the growing threat becomes overwhelming.

A major part of the mode revolves around collecting Battery Cells and clearing challenges during each run. These rewards can be exchanged for upgrades that improve defense, increase damage output, or add tactical advantages. According to the details shared, there are 12 different perks available, giving players a range of ways to shape their build. That should make each attempt feel a little different, especially if certain perk combinations dramatically change how a hero performs in combat. For players who enjoy roguelike systems, this kind of mid-run decision-making is often the heart of the experience, and it sounds like this mode is leaning heavily into that appeal.

Of course, Doom is not making the journey easy. Challenges are not simply optional bonuses with free rewards attached. Failing them will actively debuff your fighters, making future encounters more dangerous. That creates a risk-reward dynamic that should keep players thinking carefully about how aggressive they want to be. On top of that, Doctor Doom has apparently prepared traps throughout the castle, suggesting that players will need to adapt to hazards beyond standard enemy waves. The result sounds like a mode designed to keep pressure high from start to finish.

The Siege Gauge itself may be the most important mechanic of all. As players progress, the gauge fills, strengthening the castle’s forces and steadily increasing the difficulty. If it reaches full capacity, the run ends immediately. That means players are not just trying to survive individual fights; they are also racing against a larger system that punishes hesitation and inefficiency. It is an interesting twist on the usual roguelike formula because it adds a looming fail state that can cut off even a promising run if momentum is lost.

Thankfully, the mode also includes long-term progression. Successful attempts will unlock new equipment, events, and additional options through Reed’s Lab. There will also be modifiers that can increase both the challenge and the rewards in future runs. That kind of permanent progression should give players a reason to keep coming back, even after failed attempts. It also suggests that the mode may have a satisfying difficulty curve, where early runs teach the basics and later runs let experienced players experiment with tougher settings and stronger builds.

Beyond the gameplay systems, the DLC is also adding some appealing extra content. Tee Lopes is contributing new music for the expansion, which should help give the castle runs their own energy and identity. New color palettes for the full hero roster are also being included, giving players cosmetic rewards to enjoy as they battle through Doom’s stronghold. While those additions are not the main attraction, they help round out the package and make the expansion feel more substantial.

Taken together, this new mode sounds like a smart fit for Marvel Cosmic Invasion. The base idea of battling through Doctor Doom’s castle already has plenty of style, and the roguelike structure gives the DLC a format that could add a lot of replay value. Between the Siege Gauge, perk selection, challenge-based debuffs, permanent unlocks, and escalating enemy power, the expansion seems focused on creating tense runs that reward both skill and smart decision-making.

For players who wanted more than just a few extra characters and stages, this reveal should be encouraging. The addition of Doctor Doom and the Invisible Woman already gave the DLC some major appeal, but the newly detailed mode may end up being the real highlight. If the combat remains satisfying and the perk system offers meaningful variety, The Siege of Castle Doom could provide a compelling reason for fans to return again and again when it arrives this November.
